Trillium Awakening.
Full rebuild of the Trillium Awakening site from Toolset to Elementor Pro and JetEngine, with a custom teacher dashboard where teachers and mentors manage their own public profiles.
The brief.
Trillium Awakening is a nonprofit community of teachers and mentors. Its site ran on an aging Toolset setup that was hard to maintain and slow to change, and every teacher profile update had to go through an administrator.
The goal was a full rebuild with no visual redesign: keep the existing look and content, move everything to a cleaner, faster structure, and give teachers and mentors a way to keep their own profiles up to date.
The approach.
I rebuilt the pages, header and footer in Elementor Pro on Hello Elementor, matching the original design. The Teachers and Mentors system moved from Toolset to JetEngine: a Profile post type with custom fields and role taxonomies, listing pages, a single profile template and a teacher directory.
On top of that I built the teacher dashboard with JetEngine Profile Builder and JetFormBuilder: an overview plus separate forms for basic info, contact info, profile picture, welcome video and roles, so each teacher edits their own public profile from the front end.
Some parts needed custom PHP in the child theme: the profile photo becomes the user's avatar across the whole site, the profile picture is kept when a form is saved without a new upload (JetFormBuilder would otherwise clear it), profile bios feed the excerpts used in listings, and event pages from The Events Calendar show a facilitator block with each organizer's photo and bio.
The reusable parts are open source: github.com/gabrielmaafra/jetengine-snippets.
More screens.
